I was first taught about the importance of protecting wildlife by my uncle, who worked as a ranger on the plains of Rwindi. It was through him that I developed a strong appreciation for nature. While in school, I dreamed of becoming a policeman, but my uncle convinced me to enroll as a wildlife ranger.
The recent wars and the many armed rebel groups that roam the park make our job not only difficult, but very dangerous. Being a ranger is not easy, but we are disciplined and very dedicated to protecting our wildlife.
I am a Ranger and am based at Bukima, at the foot of the Mikeno Volcano.
